The Hyde Park Golf & Country Club

History - Opening its doors on the 4th of July in 1909, Hyde Park Golf & Country Club has evolved into one of the premier Cincinnati country clubs. Its origins start with the old William McCormick homestead, located on what is now Marburg Avenue.  Its life as a clubhouse was short lived, as it burned to the ground in 1911.  That same year, a new clubhouse was built on the current site facing Erie Avenue.

The first golf course layout was a nine-hole course designed by golf course architect Tom Bendelow. Eleven years later in 1913, additional property was acquired and the golf course was expanded to eighteen holes.

In 1920, 65 more acres of land were purchased and the course was then completely redesigned.  The project was under the direction of Donald Ross, the most prominent golf course architect of the day.  The Ross "touch" has been maintained throughout the golf course even with the occasional upgrades that have been a part of regular course management.

In 2009, Hyde Park Golf & Country Club will celebrate its 100th year anniversary!
